CrownFocus SENTINEL – Smart Anti-Theft Immobiliser for Toyota & Lexus

CrownFocus SENTINEL adds an independent layer of authorisation to compatible Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Before the vehicle can be started, SENTINEL must recognise an authorised smartphone through secure Bluetooth communication. If no authorised phone is detected, the factory key alone is not enough to drive the vehicle away.

Protection designed for modern vehicle theft

Many current theft methods target the factory smart-key and CAN-bus systems rather than physically forcing the ignition. SENTINEL is designed to help defend against relay attacks, key emulation and common CAN-bus drive-away methods by independently blocking the vehicle’s push-start circuit.

• Engine start prevention: an unauthorised start request is blocked at the vehicle’s start circuit.
• Smart-entry suppression: on supported vehicles, exterior door-handle smart entry remains disabled until smartphone authentication is completed.
• Protection even if the key is stolen: possession of the genuine factory key does not automatically authorise the vehicle to start.

Automatic smartphone authentication

Your phone becomes the second layer of vehicle authorisation. With Auto Mode enabled, the system can recognise a registered smartphone as it comes within range and automatically disarm in the background. You can also arm or disarm the system manually through the dedicated app.

Invisible security, factory-style operation

SENTINEL uses a vehicle-specific harness for a clean installation without cutting the factory vehicle-side wiring. Once professionally installed and paired, it works quietly in the background without changing the normal driving experience for an authorised user.

High-reliability start blocking

The system uses a high-performance FET semiconductor switch to interrupt an abnormal engine-start request. This solid-state design provides reliable operation while keeping power consumption extremely low—approximately 1 mA while armed and 6 mA when the security system is off during vehicle operation.

How it works

1. Vehicle parked: SENTINEL remains armed and monitors for an authorised smartphone.
2. Authorised driver approaches: secure Bluetooth authentication is completed automatically when Auto Mode is enabled.
3. Normal use restored: the vehicle can be unlocked and started as usual.
4. No authorised phone detected: smart entry and engine start remain blocked, even if the factory key is present.

Professional installation is mandatory

SENTINEL interfaces with critical vehicle start-authorisation and security circuitry. To protect the vehicle, the system and the integrity of the installation, this product is not available for DIY installation and must not be installed by an unauthorised third party.

Frequently asked questions

Can I install SENTINEL myself?

No. Because the system interfaces with critical vehicle security and start-authorisation circuitry, DIY installation is not permitted.

Can my own mechanic or auto electrician install it?

Not at this stage. SENTINEL must currently be installed by a CrownFocus authorised installer in Adelaide or Melbourne.

My Toyota or Lexus is not listed above. Can SENTINEL still be installed?

Most likely, yes. SENTINEL is compatible with most Toyota and Lexus vehicles, and the list above shows common examples only. Our team will confirm the exact vehicle, year and start-system configuration after your order is placed.

What happens after I place my order?

A CrownFocus team member will contact you to confirm your vehicle details, prepare the correct vehicle-specific system and arrange installation in Adelaide or Melbourne.

What happens if someone has the genuine factory key?

The factory key alone does not provide SENTINEL authorisation. If a registered smartphone is not detected, the system continues to block the vehicle’s authorised start process.

Can more than one phone be authorised?

Yes. Multiple authorised smartphones can be registered for approved drivers.

Will it change normal vehicle operation?

For an authorised driver, SENTINEL is designed to work discreetly in the background. The factory key and normal driving controls continue to be used as usual after smartphone authentication.

Does installation require cutting the factory wiring?

The system uses a vehicle-specific harness and is designed for a clean installation without cutting the factory vehicle-side wiring.
